On Monday evening, November 5th, STI Director Patricia Illsley hosted and led the first advisory meeting for the 2018/2019 academic year. Seven programs were represented with employers, faculty, alumni and current students. This inclusive format provided attendees with information on all STI programs. Ms. Illsley’s presentation focused on updates and changes for each area as well as the Accreditation review from COE’s (Council on Occupational Education) recent visit.
The Adult Culinary Arts students, and staff, prepared a delicious buffet and sweet table which was enjoyed by all. After dinner each Program Director facilitated his/her own meeting to discuss specific agenda items. Topics included placement, certifications, employment trends, curriculum and methods of instruction, student input, supplies, equipment and budgetary needs.
