STI offered a Continuing Dental Education course on June 7, 2016 to the dental offices affiliated with their Dental Assisting Program. STI would like to thank Lee Somerville, RDH, MS from Philips Oral Healthcare who discussed current and sometimes shocking health behaviors and trends in the younger generation that can influence their oral and systemic health. Dental professionals have an opportunity during a dental visit to identify risk behaviors and intervene with teenagers to help them make positive health choices. Dialogue included oral and overall health issues associated with cola/sports drink consumption, eating disorders, obesity and substance abuse.
