Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Testimonials, Class of 2022
As a 30 year old mom, who worked in many different fields, Alvielis was looking to continue her education in a career that would offer growth. HVAC/R was very appealing; she found STI by researching programs online. Some of the reasons she chose to enroll were its affordability, close proximity, and that it was only a 9 month program. When asked what she likes most about STI her response was “My classmates! We work together to come up with solutions and motivate each other. The schedule is also very manageable.” She looks forward to becoming an HVAC technician and “troubleshooting & installing like a pro!” Alvielis’ advice to prospective students is to “choose what interests you the most and give it your all! You determine how far you go in your career!”
Jose had always wanted to go to a technical/vocational high school but did not have that opportunity back home in Cape Verde. His passion for using tools and building toys started at a young age. When he arrived in the United States he saw that technical school was possible but language was a barrier. (Fun fact: he would stop into tool stores and was so excited that he would buy for no reason – just that it made him feel accomplished.) Jose attended a community school for ESL classes for two years to prepare himself to pursue his goals. He chose STI after researching and talking with people and friends; some factors included STI’s history/reputation, admissions process, tuition, equipment and facilities. He feels STI is a comfortable and friendly learning environment that encourages success. In addition to his family, Jose’s classmates and teachers have been his biggest motivators. After graduation, Jose plans to obtain a job that will allow him to improve and expand his knowledge in the field. His advice to others considering enrolling at STI is “don’t hesitate to become part of the STI family. It’s a welcoming school where your dreams can come true!”
Joseph decided to go back to school after being out over six years. He wasn’t utilizing his bachelor’s degree and chose to go into a trade. He had to over come a few hurdles such as financial obligations and scheduling conflicts. He chose STI’s HVAC program as it was close to his job in Easton and not far from his home. Joseph’s biggest motivator is the desire to provide the best life for his family. What he likes most about the school is his teachers. “They are all personable and have different experiences related to the field that they are able to link together.” Joseph looks forward to starting his career in HVAC/R and offers this advice to others considering the same. “Arrive to class on time, pay close attention to what the teachers say, and if you genuinely try in class you will succeed.”
