STI finds it an invaluable opportunity to go to high schools and present options for post-secondary planning. Many Juniors and Seniors are unsure of their interests and the path they want to pursue – a 2- or 4- year college, employment, trade/technical school, or the military. For the past couple of years, Rhonda Jermyn and Cristina Barros have been partnering with Allyson Strachan, from Stoughton High School, to talk with her students about the various career programs offered at STI. It was great to see students who had attended last year’s session as Juniors and now find themselves graduating and excited to pursue their goals.
The presentation is primarily visual whereby the students watch a 1 minute video on each of our 8 programs. This allows them to see and hear from current and past students. They then see a brief power point presentation which covers the admissions process, financial aid, costs, schedules, career placement, and academic policies. Questions were asked and lots of information was shared; it’s our hope that students will be motivated to take that next step. For some, that might be setting up a personal tour to visit STI, attend one of our upcoming open houses or, for seniors it might be applying on line. Please contact Rhonda Jermyn @ 508-230-1236 if you would like to schedule an information session at your school.
