The Medical Assisting students are really looking forward to hearing two guest speakers this month.
Lee Somerville, RDH, MS, Manager, Professional Education, Northeast, Phillips Oral Healthcare, Phillips North America.
Ms. Somerville will speak to the students about inter-disciplinary collaborative care between medical and dental professionals. She will identify the oral-systemic interrelationships in the cardiovascular and endocrine systems as examples.
The MA’s will also have the benefit of hearing from Shawna Butler, RN, JD, CPHRM.
Ms. Butler’s experience as a nurse and as an attorney focused on the Health Care System and Risk Management makes her an ideal speaker to discuss medicine, law, and ethics as they relate to the Medical Assisting profession
STI’s Medical Assisting program will celebrate National Medical Assistant’s Day on Wednesday, October 19th. Remember, Medical Assistants are at the heart of health care!
