Evening Medical Assisting Students Participate in Their First Labs

Students were taught aseptic hand washing which is the technique that involves applying strict rules to minimize the risk of infection. Healthcare workers use aseptic technique in surgery rooms, clinics, outpatient care centers, and other health care settings.
Another lab involved using the DermaScan as part of their study of the Integumentary system- hair, skin and nails. Students learned how to keep skin healthy and avoid sun damage. A brief look at one’s face in a DermaScan can be helpful in illuminating the damage the sun has caused, even from decades ago.
