Due to the current health crisis, clinical experience for STI’s Medical Assisting students will be postponed to a later date.  This year, thanks to the cooperation and collaboration of our community partners, the students will have two experiences. One will be in a Family Practice, Internal Medicine or Urgent Care setting where the students will have an opportunity to assimilate their learned entry level skills in a real work environment and further perfect their knowledge and techniques. The second experience will be in a specialty office such as Orthopedics, Surgery, Asthma & Allergy, Pain Clinic, Pediatrics or Geriatrics, providing the opportunity to focus on more specialized skills and tasks specific to the practice. These two rotations will also enable the students to become familiar with small, private offices versus large multi specialty organizations. They are excited, & a bit nervous, but the Medical Assisting Faculty is confident that this group of students will continue to reach and exceed the high bar of professionalism and excellence that STI students are known for!

We are accepting applications for the full time day Medical Assisting program that starts in September as well as for the part time evening program that begins in January. In addition to learning clinical skills such as obtaining vital signs, medication reconciliation, and assisting with examinations, students will become knowledgeable in medical office management, billing and coding, and maintaining patient records. The program also includes Phlebotomy and EKG training in preparation to become a Certified Medical Assistant.
