Practical Nurse Speakers Provide Invaluable Information to STI’s Graduating Class

Lisa Cedrone RN, Nursing Supervisor at MCI Norfolk, in Norfolk MA, and Rhonda Cantelli RN, Regional Administrator for Wellpath in Foxborough, came and spoke to the Day Practical Nurse students about Correctional Nursing.  As part of a community nursing initiative, they would like to collaborate with STI and be a potential site for clinical rotation in the future.

Kathleen administered an 8 hr Mental Health First Aid Training. The Mental Health First Aid participants learn to recognize signs of various mental disorders including; depression, anxiety, psychosis, and substance abuse. The program also focuses on a 5-step process of responding to individuals experiencing an acute mental health crisis, for example: suicidal thoughts, self-injury, acute stress reaction, panic attacks, or psychotic behavior.
