Lisa Cedrone, RN, Nursing Supervisor at MCI Norfolk, in Norfolk, MA, and Rhonda Cantelli, RN, Regional Administrator for Wellpath in Foxborough, spoke to the Day Practical Nurse students about Correctional Nursing. As part of a community nursing initiative, they would like to collaborate with STI and be a potential site for clinical rotation in the future.

Kathleen administered an 8 hour Mental Health First Aid Training. The Mental Health First Aid participants learned to recognize signs of various mental disorders including; depression, anxiety, psychosis, and substance abuse. The program also focused on a 5-step process of responding to individuals experiencing an acute mental health crisis, for example: suicidal thoughts, self-injury, acute stress reaction, panic attacks, or psychotic behavior.
