A lot of exciting things have been happening this month in the salon and in the classroom! Students began training with Dip Powder nails which was a huge success. We hope to be providing this service soon to our evening clinic customers. The Cosmetology staff is currently working to establish a vendor relationship with a company that can provide STI with the Global Keratin Smoothing system so that our students can be further trained in client services that are trending and in high demand. Students recently completed a product development project where they had to find, create, and market an organic cosmetic recipe and then provide a sample. Currently, they are preparing for the highly anticipated annual Holiday Updo Contest!
Speakers come in throughout the year to provide industry tips and information and also to perform demonstrations. Eye Design visited on November 8th to demonstrate eye lash extensions. Students were able to observe a full set application. Another speaker, and former student, Shakeisha Thomas, visited STI on November 13th to teach the students sew-in hair extensions. She displayed wigs that she makes and provided the class with some history on the origins of hair extensions and wig making. Needless to say it was both interesting and informative.
