CJ first heard about STI’s Dual Enrollment program from his guidance counselor at Norton High School. We’d like to share some of his thoughts for other students that may be considering this unique educational option that is available to qualifying in-district seniors from participating high schools.
What was it like as a 2nd semester senior attending STI in the evenings?
It was definitely more work than I had first semester of my senior year, but my high school was very accommodating knowing that I was also attending night classes. They allowed me to take some of my classes online so I had more free periods to manage my work schedule as well.
What did you enjoy most about your experience at STI?
All the hands on experience that I got in the kitchen and occasionally being able to experiment.
What, if any, were some of the challenges?
Balancing this and high school at the same time was a challenge but one that wasn’t too tough if I planned my work out and set reminders to make sure I didn’t fall too far behind.
What advice would you give another student considering Dual Enrollment?
Stay on top of all your work.
What are your career plans?
I was planning on working at a bakery but since attending STI I’m open to a lot of different jobs in the foodservice industry.
