Betty is a graduate of Salem State College where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She also has a Master’s of Education degree from UMass Boston and a Master’s degree in Nursing Education from UMass Worcester. For most of Betty’s nursing career she worked in acute care hospitals as a medical-surgical and intensive care nurse, and as a nursing supervisor. For the past 20 years she has worked in hospital nursing education, and had the great privilege of leading staff nurse practice councils in improving nursing practice through such initiatives as development of a resource nurse role, bedside report process, and integrating Nurse of the Future competencies into orientation with new graduate nurses and their preceptors. She is excited to bring these experiences to Southeastern Technical Institute to help educate the next generation of nurses.
